Fall 2018- present:

BVEdHub has had a successful relationship with Grafton Job Corps since our opening in Fall 2018. Our first graduating class of Advanced Manufacturing students in late summer 2019 had successful placement of 8 students into manufacturing jobs in Massachusetts in such companies as Algonquin Industries, Nortek, AllSteel, and Gillette. Two students went onto other opportunities - post secondary school and the U.S. Navy.

Currently, we are working with 3 students from Grafton Job Corps. The current COVID-19 pandemic has had our teachers reshape their classrooms- making them virtual with recorded video sessions and the addition of Google Classroom. We are looking forward to having them back at the EdHub as soon as they are back to campus for their hands-on training. We are sure there will be successful placement with them as well!

Local High School Consortium

Fall 2019- Spring 2020

To assist the local high schools in the Blackstone Valley who may not be able to offer Manufacturing courses, we offered a course that started in the fall of 2019 (section 1) and continued to spring 2020 (section 2). Students from Hopedale, Bellingham, Sutton, Milford, and Blackstone Millville Regional High School participated in a 2hr class one night a week. Our instructor worked with their guidance counselors and students received instruction and hands-on experience with Fusion 360, 3D printing and design, laser cutting, and basic electronics. The COVID-19 pandemic put a halt on the hands-on experiences in March, but the students were still able to connect via Google classroom and complete the course.

Workforce Re-entry with Worcester County House of Corrections

Jan. 2020- present

Our most current program has us working with the Worcester County House of Corrections to prepare and train individuals for job placement in Advanced Manufacturing upon their release from incarceration. We are thankful for additional grant funding that allowed us to procure Chromebooks for the students to continue their curriculum through the COVID-19 shutdown from March to May. The students were able to continue their hands-on training at the BVEdHub starting in June with COVID-19 protocols in place. Classes are continuing through September, with hopes to culminate in MACWIC2 credentialing. One student has already secured a job with a local manufacturing company. It gives us great pride to assist these individuals whose main goal is to get their life back on track.
